Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand Project Management Basics: Define and describe what a project is and the key steps to plan, execute, monitor, control, and close out a project.
  • Master Project Terminology: Paraphrase the main terminology related to projects as outlined in the PMBOKĀ® Guide, Seventh Edition, 2021.
  • Navigate the Project Life Cycle: List and apply the main steps in the project life cycle: define, plan, execute, monitor and control, and closeout.
  • Decompose and Structure Projects: Break down a project into tasks, create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and identify key tasks.
  • Develop and Analyze Project Schedules: Create a project schedule using the Precedence Diagramming Method, calculate, and interpret the critical path.
  • Manage Resources and Budgets: Allocate resources to activities, calculate task duration and costs, and develop a time-phased and cumulative budget with an S-curve.
  • Identify and Manage Risks: Identify, qualify, and quantify project risks, and create a comprehensive risk management plan.
  • Apply Knowledge in Real-World Scenarios: Apply tools and techniques to in-class projects and real projects within your organization.
